When you drive in a race, the position you sit in can have a major effect on your speed and reaction time. Here’s what you need to do to optimize your posture in the driver’s seat for high performance driving.
The first step is to slide the base of your seat forward. You should be close enough to the brake pedal that you can push it all the way down to the floor if needed.
You should also be able to push the clutch all the way down without your heel coming up off the ground. Then, tilt the backrest so that your elbows bend at 90 degrees when you are holding the steering wheel. You may also wish to pull the steering wheel closer to you you.
Next, adjust the positioning of your hands. Your hands should always be at nine o’clock and three o’clock on the steering wheel. As you drive, you push your hands up in the direction that you are turning. For example, push your right hand up during a left turn and your left hand up during a right turn.
If you follow these posture tips, you’ll surely notice an improvement in your racing performance. Good luck, and happy driving!
