What a Day in the Life of an Orthopedic Surgeon Looks Like


 

Orthopedic doctors fill an essential role in the hospital, and Med School Insiders want to highlight their work today.

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to spend one day in the shoes of a surgeon? Follow Dr. McKnight, an orthopedic surgeon resident, as he takes you through a day in his life.

Starting his day bright and early, we follow Dr. McKnight as he drives to the hospital and runs through his to-do list for his on-call shift. His shift will last roughly 24 hours, and he is going to be on the go the whole time.

After demonstrating the proper way to scrub in, Dr. McKnight will show us how his work helps people heal and get back to life by showing us X-Rays from cases he’s worked on. Once cases are over for the day, Dr. Mcknight’s shift continues. Pager in hand, he will explain what his responsibilities are when he becomes the on-call orthopedic surgeon.
