If you have experienced flooding in your home, you’re going to need to look into methods of water damage cleanups. In this video, the 5 steps you should take for water damage cleanups are displayed.
1. Turn off the electric and gas connected to your house
You want to make sure you are being safe when cleaning up water damage.
Having electric or gas on can cause serious risks to you and anyone else involved during water damage cleanups.
2. Wear protective equipment
There is a lot of mold and other hazardous things in the air following water damage to your home. You want to make sure you are keeping yourself from inhaling any of these toxic substances. N95 masks are a great option for this. You also want to have gloves on to avoid any contact injuries.
3. Document what has happened to your house
You want to take pictures and videos so you have proper documentation for your insurance. Things can happen during the clean up process and you don’t want to be held liable.
4. Focus on the flood line
You’ll see a dirt line a couple feet up depending on how high the water got. You’re gonna want to trash up anything from one foot from above that flood line and below. Anything that has gotten wet from a flood like carpets or carpet padding will probably need to be trashed as it is incredibly difficult to dry those out.
